Hello, this month, I will take you to a secret cafe located in the heart of Sukhumvit Soi 23, a Sri Lankan style cafe. Let’s follow.
Serendib is the former name of Sri Lanka. And used as the cafe’s name because it is the highlight of the cafe for all tea imports from Sri Lanka.
At this cafe, they serve both homemade food with Japanese flavors and also include cakes that are unique as well.When see the first picture you want to try it, right? Please cover the other menus first.
Serendib cafe has been open since the year 2014.The owner of the shop used to be Japanese and later it was taken over, managed by a Thai owner, like two female best friends, namely Khun Orawan Soonthornsuk (Na) and Khun Pimsataphon Duangkaew (Pim) since 2019.
Khun Pim has traveled to Japan for 7 years and had the opportunity to study hotel management.Taking a pastry making course in Japan before returning to Thailand have brought knowledge and various experiences, including Japanese to use in working and developing the menu in the shop as well.
Serendib Tea Room & Cafe is another shop that we would like to recommend to everyone to spend time relaxing and chilling and enjoying homemade food and sipping hot tea with afternoon cakes here.
Here comes the food and dessert menu that I would like to recommend. Let’s go and taste something together. Let’s start with the first appetizer menu.
– Shoyu Prawn cream Spaghetti (180 Baht)
This dish is very good, soft and chewy spaghetti. Topped with shimeji mushroom cream sauce when taking the first word, touching the chewy noodles together with the big, firm shrimp. Mixed with the taste of shishamo roe, which is crunchy and oily, when you eat it, you will have a light soy sauce smell. Enjoy it.
Next comes with a cold drink, sweet, juicy, refreshing, refreshing during the day. It must be the Strawberry Lemonade drink menu.
Fresh fruits like Lemon and Strawberry are fermented for up to three days to intensify the natural sweetness from the fruit and mix it with soda. Cool, sweet, juicy, refreshing. The cafe also has a small plate of cookies to give as well.
There are also a variety of customers, both Thais and foreigners. Especially, Japanese customers which the cafe has changed the taste to be more soft in the style of the shop itself, but still retains the original style.
Here, they have a Royalty card. Order food or beverages for 250 Baht, get 1 stamp, when collecting 10 stamps, get another 20% discount.
And the scafe also has a delivery service as well, with free delivery when ordering 1,500 baht within an area of not more than 20 km, but in the case of a distant area. In addition, the cafe also has a menu of homemade style Japanese flavors such as Chicken Teriyaki Sandwich (150 Baht), chicken sandwich with teriyaki sauce mixed with onions. I must say that this is another menu that is the secret recipe of the cafe.
Hamburg Cheese Curry (Original curry or Spicy curry) is another authentic Japanese recipe. There is cheese inside There is a choice of pork or beef for 180 baht. There are both normal flavors and you can choose the level of spiciness you like.
Let’s continue with the next dessert menu. Introducing the dessert menu that was introduced from the beginning with Mango Cheese Cake (140 Baht) full of words with mango fruit pulp. At this shop they use Mascarpone Cheese.
Caramel Macadamia Cake (140 Baht) topped with macadamia, mixed with Rare cheese and Mascarpone cheese, making the cake smooth, fluffy, adding softness and pattern in the mouth from the first bite. The desserts from the cafe do not contain preservatives and can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Here, they change the menu of cakes every week for 2-3 menus.
There is also Caramel Sri Lanka Tea at 150 Baht, where you can feel the delicate aroma of caramel both cold and hot or as a mixture of milk. You can ask for more information with the shop.
Another best-selling tea at the cafe is Dimbla Tea. It is a black tea from Ceylon in the middle of Sri Lanka. It has a strong aroma that is perfect to mix with milk.
They are said to contain super antioxidants called Polyphenols that help fight free radicals, fight cancer, bacteria, viruses and prevent tooth decay. It is a tea that is hard to find in Thailand. If anyone wants to try how it tastes and smells. You have to try it here.
Another one that you don’t want to miss is a Choux Cream, another best-selling menu item from the cafe. Full of custard cream filling because they put ingredients like 70% custard cream and 30% light fresh cream, less sweet, with caramelized sugar coating. Mixed with crispy almonds, slide on top, price is 60 baht per piece. All menus here are including of tax.
Friends can travel by BTS Skytrain to Asoke Station or MRT Sukhumvit Station. It is recommended to take a motorbike from the entrance of Soi Sukhumvit 23 into the cafe about 10 baht. There will be a sign at the entrance before reaching the cafe. The cafe is located in a small alley. If you bring your own car to park at the Young place building or Terminal 21 shopping mall, the normal parking fee will be charged.
The cafe is open from 10.30-19.00 and is closed every Monday. If it falls on a public holiday It is recommended to call the cafe directly to inquire.
